Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 20, 2026

In short: we keep only what Knot needs to work, we don’t sell your data or your guests’, and you can ask to see or delete it anytime.

Who’s responsible for your data

The controller of your personal data is Santiago Vázquez Villarreal (“Knot”), based in Mexico. You can reach us anytime at the address at the end of this policy.

We handle your data under Mexico’s Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties (LFPDPPP).

What we collect

We keep only what Knot needs to work:

  • Your account: your name, your email, and your wedding details (date, venue, language).
  • Your guest list: the names you add or import and, when you include them, their email and phone number.
  • RSVPs: each guest’s reply and their answers to your questions.
  • Payments: if you upgrade to Premium, Stripe processes the charge. We don’t store your card details.
  • Basic technical data to keep the service secure and running, such as access logs.

You’re the one who enters your guests’ information. By using it in Knot, you agree to do so responsibly.

How we use it

We use your data only to give you the service:

  • Show your list, your events, and your RSVPs in one place.
  • Send the confirmation links and the reminders you choose to send your guests.
  • Process your payment when you upgrade to Premium.
  • Keep your account secure and help you when you ask.

We don’t sell your data or your guests’, and we don’t use it for advertising.

WhatsApp and email reminders

Knot can send reminders, last-minute changes, and thank-you notes to your guests by email and, on the Premium plan, over WhatsApp. You decide what goes out and to whom.

These messages go through our email provider and the WhatsApp API (Twilio). To send them, we share only the guest’s name, email or phone, and the message content.

Any guest can opt out of these reminders by replying to the message or writing to us.

Who we share it with

We work with a few providers that handle data on our behalf, only to run the service:

  • Clerk — sign-in and accounts.
  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • Twilio and our email provider — sending WhatsApp and email reminders.
  • Railway and Cloudflare — where the app runs and is served.

Each provider receives only the data it needs for its job and is required to protect it. We don’t share your data with anyone else, unless the law requires it.

Where it’s stored and for how long

Your data is stored on our hosting providers’ servers, which may be located outside Mexico. In every case we require reasonable security measures to protect it.

We keep your information while your account is active. If you delete your account or ask us to, we remove your data and your guests’, except what we must keep by law.

Your rights

At any time you can ask us to:

  • Access the data we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that’s wrong or incomplete.
  • Delete your data or close your account.
  • Object to a specific use or withdraw your consent.

To exercise any of these rights, write to the address below. We’ll respond as soon as we can.

Children

Knot is meant for adults planning their wedding. We don’t knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we’ll change the date above and, when the change is significant, let you know. The current version will always live on this page.
