Terms of Service

Last updated: August 9, 2026

In short: use Knot to plan your wedding, treat your guests’ data with care, and if the one-time payment isn’t for you, we refund it within the first 14 days.

What you’re agreeing to

Knot is a service run by Santiago Vázquez Villarreal (“Knot”, “we”), based in Mexico. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms.

If you don’t agree with any of them, don’t use Knot. If you use it on someone else’s behalf — as a wedding planner, for example — you’re agreeing to these terms for them too.

How we handle your personal data is explained in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.

The service

Knot helps you organize your wedding: your guest list, magic-link RSVPs, and email and WhatsApp reminders, all in one place.

Knot is in alpha. It works today and improves every week, but it can have bugs and some features may change. We’ll tell you about the significant ones.

Your account

You need an account to use Knot. When you create one:

  • You confirm you’re of legal age.
  • You agree to give accurate information and keep it current.
  • You’re responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your access safe.
  • If you invite your partner as a co-owner or your wedding planner, each of them signs in with their own account and sees the wedding’s information.

If you notice unauthorized use of your account, tell us right away.

Plans and pricing

Knot has two plans:

  • Free: up to 25 guests and 1 event, magic-link RSVPs, CSV import for your list, and email reminders. It doesn’t expire and we don’t ask for a card.
  • Premium: unlimited guests and events, custom RSVP questions, and WhatsApp reminders. It’s a one-time payment of $99.99 USD, and $74.99 USD for a limited time.

Premium is a one-time payment per wedding, not a subscription: it doesn’t renew and you aren’t charged again. We may change prices when needed, but a change never affects a purchase you already made.

Payments and refunds

Stripe processes the charge; we never see or store your card details. Prices are in US dollars (USD) and are the total you pay: what you see is what you’re charged.

If Premium isn’t for you, write to us within 14 calendar days of your purchase and we’ll refund it in full, no questions asked. After those 14 days, the purchase is final.

You can ask from the app, in Support, or by email. Both count the same; what matters is the date you ask us.

Refunds go back to the original payment method and can take a few days to appear, depending on your bank. Once refunded, your wedding returns to the free plan.

Your content and your guests’ data

What you put into Knot is yours: your list, your wedding details, and your guests’ replies. We claim no ownership over it and use it only to give you the service, as explained in the Privacy Policy.

You decide what guest data you enter and what messages go out to them. When you enter or import it, you confirm that:

  • You have the right to use it to invite and notify those people.
  • The information is accurate and current as far as you know.
  • You’ll tell us when a guest asks you to correct or delete their data, so we can handle it together.

How we handle that data, who answers for it, and what rights your guests have is explained in the Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

Knot is for planning weddings. When you use it, you agree not to:

  • Send advertising, spam, or messages unrelated to your event.
  • Upload content that’s illegal, offensive, or that you don’t have the right to use.
  • Try to reach other people’s accounts or data.
  • Overload, copy, or reverse-engineer the service, or automate its use without our permission.
  • Resell access to Knot or present it as a service of your own.

A wedding planner can absolutely use Knot with their clients: each wedding is its own space and its own plan.

The messages you send

Knot sends email and, on Premium, WhatsApp messages to your guests. You decide what goes out and to whom; the messages go out in your name.

WhatsApp messages travel through Twilio and are subject to WhatsApp’s and Meta’s policies. By using them, you agree that:

  • You’ll only write to people who expect to hear from you about your wedding.
  • You’ll immediately respect anyone who asks to stop receiving messages.
  • You won’t use reminders for promotions or anything unrelated to your event.

If a send breaks these rules or our providers’, we can stop it. We also can’t guarantee every message is delivered — that depends on the guest’s carrier and on WhatsApp too.

Availability and changes

We do our best to keep Knot running, but we don’t promise uninterrupted availability: there will be maintenance and, occasionally, outages.

We may add, change, or retire features. If a change affects you significantly — for example, if we retire something you paid for — we’ll tell you ahead of time and find a fair resolution.

Suspension and termination

You can stop using Knot whenever you like. If you want your account and everything in it deleted, write to us and we’ll do it.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, whose use puts the service or other people at risk, or when the law requires it. Except in serious cases, we’ll tell you first and give you a chance to fix it.

When an account closes we delete its information as described in the Privacy Policy. If you want to keep a copy, ask us for it beforehand.

Intellectual property

Knot — the software, the name, the logo, and the design of the site and the app — is ours and is protected by law. These terms give you permission to use the service, not to own it.

You may not copy, modify, or distribute parts of Knot, or use our brand without written permission.

Warranties and liability

Knot is provided “as is”. We take care to make it work, but we can’t guarantee it’s free of errors or fit for a particular purpose.

Knot is a tool for organizing your wedding; the decisions and the communication with your guests remain yours. We aren’t liable for indirect damages or for a message that doesn’t arrive on time.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for Knot. Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law gives you as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we’ll change the date above and, if the change is significant, let you know before it takes effect.

If you keep using Knot after that date, we take it that you accept the new version. If you don’t agree, you can close your account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Mexican States. Any dispute will be resolved before the competent courts of Monterrey, Nuevo León.

If any clause turns out to be invalid, the rest stays in force.
